Google Scientists predict that Google can now predict what is inside an image and rank it accordingly, without any human effort. How true is this?
In a paper presented by two Google scientists on “Page rank for product image searches”, the scientists claim that Google has already decided the future of image searches. Soon it shall launch its image page rank feature, where without any human intervention, the search engine will be able to read what is within and hence rank its credibility.
Google's new image search will rank images all on its own, analyzing its subject and content. This technique will apparently remove its alt text dependency which had been using so far, to read behind an image. This indeed is a commendable job, and if the paper really clicks through, it will be a yet another great step towards technology updates and very soon no human mechanism will be required to study the image description through meta data.
All content analysis hence forth will be conducted by the computers which will read the description behind the images before the Google image searching algorithm crawls the website and adds page ranks to them.
This invention as a matter of fact is a good news to all SEOs who now do not need to worry about excessive images being stuffed in the webpages, which will go unread by the search engines. So far so good. The idea does sound interesting to learn. But the truth will come out only when it is in practice. If it succeeds it would definitely be a great step towards development. Yes, SEOs now need to pull up their socks and learn some graphic designing skills too.
